How'd that happen?

I'm no good with money, neither is D. As soon as we get it, we spend it. The last couple years that hasn't been an issue because various pockets of money kept showing up, just when we needed them.
Fortunately, it happened again this week with the IRS check. Otherwise we were down to our last $70 and D just got paid last Thursday. I get paid every week. Of course we still have a bit in savings, but not nearly as much as we should. No matter how much we earn, we manage to find ways to spend it and usually with nothing to show for it.
I really need to work on that!

And it's not even my birthday

First I figured out we are having too much taken out of our checks for taxes (used the irs withholding calculator, it hasn't failed me yet), then I got $100 cash money from my boss, he gave everyone $100 as a thank you for all the hard work they did on a big job we just finished and I got one, too. Then one of the guys brought me a tres leche cupcake, for no reason at all.

Faith is an lol cat

I'm so bad!

a few minutes ago, the plant manager came over the loud speaker and said "Carl, make sure you get the right screw this time"

I HAD to call the plant manager and say "all any of us really want is the right screw"

Mother's Day Present from N

She was going to throw this away and I asked her for it, well, I insisted she give it to me for Mother's Day. I LOVE this painting. I just love it

Take me out to the ball game

Sunday we took all the kids & grandkids to the Texas Rangers game (thanks Ebay for cheap seats)

Just having a little fun

Last night we went fishing with N & her girlfriend. The place we went has a restaurant/bar and a fishing dock. After fishing awhile and not catching much of anything, we decided to get a burger at the restaurant. On all the tables, people had put their business cards under the glass and the table we sat down at had N's mom's business card on it. Just for fun, D & I put our cards right next to hers. N says she goes there a lot, I wonder if she'll notice?

Holding pattern

We learned nothing new at the Dr.'s visit. The new Dr. wants to run a ton of tests and get back with us in 6 weeks, assuming the tests don't show anything that needs urgent attention.
So we're back to not knowing what the future holds. Which, really, none of us know, we just pretend we do anyway.

No matter what

This afternoon at 1 pm, D and I will be visiting the liver transplant clinic at Baylor All Saints. To say I'm scared doesn't quite explain the range of emotions I'm feeling. Neither of us knows exactly what the Dr. will say and so there is fear and anticipation. There is also this strange underlying peace, of recent origin. D & I have been through so much together and I know that whatever this day brings, whatever news we hear, whatever medical crap we go through next, we will go through it together.

Last night D went fishing for a bit (while I worked out, I'm a dedicated exerciser again). He was gone a couple hours, and didn't answer his phone when I tried to call.
I always tend to panic when I can't get in touch with a loved one but I figured something was up. When he did call, he was more excited and happy than I'd seen him in months. He'd been catching sand bass by the dozens.
He came home flushed & excited and stinking of fish.
No matter what news we hear today, I'm going to do my best to give him as many moments like that as possible for the rest of our lives.

i(don't)cruise.com

When we booked our cruise, I set up an "easy payment" plan on their website. It was supposed to hit my credit card in payments over three months. For some reason that didn't happen the first month so they broke it up into two payments. The first one was supposed to be March 29th. I just noticed that hey, they didn't charge my card. So I emailed my rep and she emailed her accounting department. In the meantime I check their site and they are showing a balance due that reflects the March 29th payment having been made.
So their idiot accounting department just sends me this email:
Hello - we do not show a payment put throuh on March 29th. Your next
sceduled payment for the final is set for may 9th.

First of all, nice use of spell check, eh?
Second of all your fucking email doesn't answer my damn question, which is WHY didn't the March 29th payment go through? Is there a problem with my card or are you just a bunch of idiots and I need a new travel agency?

The good life

you'd think it was D's birthday
he woke up to some morning delight
then we ate at his favorite breakfast place (Joe T. Garcias)
then he & D jr went fishing
I went to Ross and bought him clothes and I went to the grocery store alone
then I made his dinner and made creme brulle for desert which I spoon fed him while he watched the De la Hoya fight

that's a good day

I let the cat out of the bag

so, I had to tell my sisters the good news because, apparently, calling more than 2 relatives in a single week/month/year is too damn much for my brother

My brother's wife is expecting, 8 weeks pregnant to be exact. None of us thought they'd ever have kids. They've been married something like 15 years. I'm so glad to have another relative on the way.
I was going to change my custom title at my soap forum to something like "mimi & auntie but never mommy" and I started to cry when I typed that, because, well, that just sucks, you know?
One of these days I'm going to be 100% over this shit. I promise.
